Srinagar, May 22 (KNO): The residents of Noorbagh, Sheikh Colony took to the streets on Wednesday, demanding adequate power supply.
The locals staged a protest after what they said to have been receiving inadequate power supply for several months.
Chanting slogans, the protesters gathered near Noorbagh, voicing their frustrations and urging the authorities to address the issue promptly.
As per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the residents claim that the frequent power cuts have disrupted their daily lives, affecting everything from household chores to the education of their children.
“We have been facing power outages for hours every day, and it has become unbearable,” said Rashid Ahmed, a resident of Noorbagh Sheikh Colony.
He added that their children are unable to study in the evenings because of the shortage of power supply.
The locals emphasized that despite numerous complaints to the Power Development Department (PDD), no concrete action has been taken to resolve the situation.
“We have approached the PDD multiple times, but our concerns have fallen on deaf ears,” said Fatima Begum, another resident, adding, “We are paying our bills on time, yet we are being deprived of a basic necessity, while we request the administration to kindly look into this matter.”—(KNO)
